Easy Like Sunday Morning

This little honeygirl and I were the only ones up (at 10am!), so we took our bedhead hair & pajama-clad selves to MickyD's so we could surprise our guys with some hotcakes (clean-eating cheat day!).

She chattered the whole way about how much she loves her sparkle shoes, how Paigey is her bestfriend, if 'poppy' and 'poppycat' rhyme or just sound the same, how daddy shouldn't drink so much soda&pop, if Narls is gonna marry Emma in Begas... This girl.  Love her so.

Baby Steps

This month I've been busting butt (literally and figuratively) with not only making sure my family is eating as best we can, but also to incorporate more physical activity into our lives.

Clay & I got the kids signed up for soccer and for myself personally, I've been committing to daily wogs (this crazy walk/jog thing I do), and I just started yoga again, something I LOVE but haven't done since I was pregnant with Em.

Baby steps.

Date Night

I'm finally starting to feel better after (what felt like) weeks and weeks of tonsillitis and topped off with an attractive stye, so Clay suggested a night out with just the two of us.

Feeling better, but not enough to brave heels. Sigh.

A Pistons basketball game, followed by drinks & pizza from Sweetwater with my husband was exactly what I needed.

Love him so ♥

A whole bunch of awesomeness wrapped in one tiny night.

Clean Eating, Going Strong

Of our family $118 grocery bill for the week, 51% was spent on fresh fruits and veggies.
Feeling very good about that.

Kindergarten Roundup

Today started with Narls' physical at his pediatrician's office...

and ended at the elementary school where he'll be starting kindergarten this fall for kindergarten roundup.

I'm not gonna lie- roundup was crazy.  Clay knew a lot of the other parents there because of coaching t-ball and his job so he kept getting pulled off, we didn't have all of our paperwork filled out, Em was throwing a massive crying fit because she couldn't go off and be tested with Narls, and I'm trying to navigate the halls in my heels without spilling my Starbucks. So you know, typical Churches.

But it was all good.  The lady who gave Narls his tests said he's an overachiever.  He only had to spell his first name, and he insisted on writing his first, middle, and last. He then insisted on writing the whole alphabet for her (upper and lower case), counting by 1, 2's, and 10's, and asked her a ton of questions about what he should expect in Kindergarten.  In other words, typical Narls.  This kid.

Sick Day

Despite loading myself up with Vitamin C and green tea, I got sick.

Like waiting in after hours clinic because I'm sure I'm dying sick.

Good news: not dying. Bad news: horrible case of tonsillitis.

So I'm home sick today. Fun times. My kids promised they'd be "good and quiet" if they could stay home with me and apparently I have sucker written on my forehead, because I agreed.

Actually they are being pretty good, although not entirely quiet (side-eying them so hard right now).  They talked me into doing a Sand Art project (again, I'm a sucker), which turned into multiple Sand Art projects, which are surprisingly fun, albeit messy, to make. Blame the long, run-on sentence on my drugs.

Making them helped (temporarily) take my mind off my burning throat and tonsils and how I can't breathe and/or swallow without dying a tiny bit, so thanks Dr Narls and Dr Emerson. And now I have something pretty to look at from the confines of my warm, comfy bed, which is back where I'm heading. Win win.

Servals, Tarantulas, and Sloths, Oh My!

I've had to have posted about the Flint Children's Museum before, right?  It is truly a Flint gem.

Clay and I take our kids there quite regularly, and this trip was one of the best because they were hosting Animal Magic.

I'm not kidding, I learned more about a tarantula from Mark's show than I've ever learned... in science class? On the Discovery channel? Hell, I have no idea if I even knew about tarantulas before his show, but I sure do now.

If you get the chance to see an Animal Magic show - GO. And make sure you check out the sloth; she's amazing.
